Scream
Scream

Reds and blues, a mutation from
Rose and aqua, my
Lungs fill with air,
Loudening voices that
Only I
Am hearing,
Can you see the gargoyle-like
Faces swimming in
The sea of life,
Or is your own face paint-stricken
And contorted as your body
Which writhes in agony, as
Oranges and yellows, black and white
Has never looked so clear to me?
Nobody cared
When they took me away,
Or nobody heard me
Scream this morning,
As clothing was thrown
In whirlwind about the bedroom I
Call my castle?
It didn’t really matter because
They were just things,
Not like trees, birds,
Or a rushing waterfall-
And perhaps even a rainbow,
With its unidentifiable bands of color, those reds and blues,
Reds and aquas have mutated from
Roses and blues,
I have often felt
As downtrodden as
Black and white is now clear to me-
I am a nobody in this sea of life-
And I don’t even care…

A scream inside is muffled by cotton
Tucked within the meninges of my brain.

A scream in the blindness of a dark night is
A cry for help, dormant, ready to erupt.

A jailed rhinoceros breaks through its caged bars-
A scream or a yelp emanating from within.

A scream is ignited by a fire- wrathful-
Burning down the barriers that contain it.

Reaching a sate of dire frustration,
An irate bison is a high-pitched scream.
OvertradingOver trading its boundaries.

Blinded by the night, I cannot see
The molten lava flowing,
Neither can I hear the sputtering of volcanic ash.

As I try to escape,
Rubble tumbles from the sky, storming past the midnight hours.

I am lost within a conglomeration of heated metal that
Succumbs me.
All is still and quiescent.
The sky, iridescent.

A single ash drops from the heavens above, absorbed by
The early morning dewdrops.

My spirit is imprisoned within iron bars-
Can you hear its silent cry?
