Flip Side of ATC'sThis is a featured page

ATC's are a form of Small Format Art, sometimes referred to as SFA. The back side of this miniature piece of art is usually dated and signed by the artist. Many artists give a title to their piece and number them as well, especially if they are one in a set of several.

The manner in which artists add this information and finish the back of an ATC is almost as diverse as the ways artists complete the front.

For example if items wrap around or poke through to the back of the card sometimes artists let it be and these items still show on the back. The below photo shows how the eyelets and fiber came through the back of the card and the paper strip at the bottom wrapped around.

Sometimes these "show through elements are covered up with another sheet of cardstock or paper to make sure the back of the card is smooth. On the card pictured on the right, the eyelets and fiber were showing on the backside. With the extra sheet of cardstock on the back it gives a more finished look to the ATC.

There are times when the artist prefers to add their info on a label. This can be done by printing the info on a small piece of paper then adhering that to the back of your card. An easier way is to use pre cut sticky labels available at many office supply outlets, as shown in the "Live in Color" and the "Peace, Love, Joy" ATC's shown below.

Even when an ATC is a one of a kind original, include your info on the back. Because they are just like any other piece of art, I strongly encourage numbering and signing every single ATC you create!
