APA stands for Amateur Press Association. It's a zine made of a copy of every zine produced by the members. Each one sends the appropriate number of copies to a person known as the Central Mailer (CM, or DM for Distribution Manager). This person addscompiles the zines like this and then sends the final result to the members. The result: a "phone book" (hopefully): a packet of about 100 pages, maybe more.

One example of this: Comicopia. An APA about comicbooks founded by Jeff Boman in 1990, still running today. In April 2007, its 100th mailing (issue) is being put together.
